Promise Pledge

The 'Band of Brothers'
Pledge

'Band of Brothers' aims to make the following impact, in our local communities:

1. Reduce male suicide rates, by creating safe, welcoming spaces and events, where honest conversations can start and support can be found, for adult men, that are free from judgement and pressure.

2. Challenge the stigma around men expressing their emotions, by standing beside those who need to be heard, seen and understood and breaking the misconceptions that being vulnerable is a sign of weakness, when it is in fact a sign of strength. We will continue to holistically offer a diverse range of events, to engage as many men, from as many different pathways as possible, creating a positive engagement, for, but not limited to, those fighting addiction, seeking change from harmful thoughts/behaviour and individuals feeling low/suicidal.

3. Work to reduce violence against women and girls, by fostering safer communities, opening up meaningful conversations and shifting harmful perceptions. Our Board and Volunteers are trained as 'Ask Me' Ambassadors, to navigate conversations and disclosures around Domestic Abuse/Violence, as well as 'Active Bystander' training, to ensure any compromise in safety is called out.

4. Creating healthier communities, by offering health screening, awareness talks and information, guidance and advice services to men, in order to reduce late diagnosis and ensure greater public health, in areas includig diabetes, testicular and prostate cancer and heart disease.

5. Positively working with today's men, while also shaping life for tomorrow's men, by developing a safer schools programme, for boys 13y+, in financial literacy and positive relationships, while starting the conversation on important topics, such as suicide and harm, racism, misogyny, extreme violence/pornography, sexism and violence against women and girls.
